La Casa de Papel directly translates from Spanish to English as "The House of Paper". This title is a reference to the Royal Mint of Spain, the target of the first two heists in the series, where the paper for printing money is produced. The show's English title, Money Heist, was chosen by Netflix to avoid confusion with the American show House of Cards.
